STRITCH FACTS

ACADEMICS

  • POWER SCHOOL – a web-based student information system (SIS) from Apple, simplifies data-driven decision making by providing real-time information over the Internet. Administrators get the most accurate information to make more effective decisions. Teachers gain timesaving administrative tools, parents gain immediate access to their children’s grades, and students can track their own progress.

  • Strong college preparatory curriculum. Honors courses in math, science, and language arts.

  • Block Scheduling – This means students attend four 80-minute classes one day and four different classes the next. Block scheduling provides for a less stressful learning environment with fewer interruptions and a more active involvement of the students in the learning process.

  • Strong core curriculum for all students.

  • Small class sizes and committed faculty ensure EVERY student excels regardless of his/her goals upon graduation.

  • CSHS has a unique partnership with Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio to provide college credit while studying at Stritch. Students, who select this program and complete courses in AP Biology, AP American History, AP European History, AP Calculus, and AP English, will receive credit directly from Lourdes College.

FACULTY

  • Student-teacher ratio of 14:1.

  • Average of 18 years of classroom experience.

  • A uniquely committed faculty trained to address the needs of the individual student.

GRADUATE SUCCESS

  • Ninety percent of all graduates attending college were admitted to their first choice college.

  • Nearly ninety-five percent of graduates advance to a two- or four-year college program.

SMALL SCHOOLS ARE BETTER FOR YOUR CHILD

Look at what the experts are saying about the benefits of a small high school over those of a large high school:

  • Student achievement goes up. In a study by Dr. Patricia Wasley, Dean and Processor of Educational Leadership, University of Washington, “found that students in small schools made significant improvements in behavior and achievement and had up to .22 higher grade point averages, and improved reading scores by the equivalent of almost half a year.” (Educational Leadership, March 2001, v.58)

  • Over the last five years, researchers have concluded that smaller schools provide many benefits: achievement, attendance, graduation rates, and behavior all tend to be better in small schools.” (Joe Nathan and Karen Febey, Smaller, Safer, Saner, Successful Schools. National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities, Washington D.C., 2001)

EXTRACURRICULARS

  • Extracurricular activities are important in the total development of the individual. At Cardinal Stritch High School, there are many areas in which students can become involved, as well as develop leadership qualities. Ninety percent of all Cardinal Stritch High School students are involved in athletics, a student club/organization, or both.

UNIQUELY CATHOLIC

As disciples of Jesus Christ our call as adult members of the Church is to follow Him, as He calls children to Himself, and even to the cross. In turn, we believe that we will experience the resurrection. Cardinal Stritch High School gives students the tools they need to discern and follow their respective call in life. Above all, CSHS forms disciples of Jesus Christ.

  • Only school in the area to celebrate class Mass WEEKLY during the school day.

  • Monthly All-School Masses are held, and daily Mass is offered in the chapel.

  • Yearly class retreats, small group retreats, and Teens Encounter Christ (TEC).

  • CSHS also offers Kairos retreats. Kairos is a three and a half day student directed retreat offered to the senior class. Kairos literally means "God's time" and throughout the retreat, students take time to focus on recognizing God's presences in their daily lives. It is an opportunity for the students to gather and share their life experiences with one another and search for ways to live out the message of God.

  • Clergy of other denominations are cordially invited to participate in the spiritual development of Cardinal Stritch High School students.

UNIQUELY AFFORDABLE

“If there is a child that you can’t feed or educate, give that child to me. I will not refuse any child.” Mother Teresa
